hosted by Edible Feasts
Come join us for the 3rd in a series of Edible Feasts during this year’s Appetite Festival in East London.
‘Through The Bamboo Forest’ takes you inside the mystical countryside of mainland China. From delicious cold dishes to juicy homemade dumplings, this vegetarian feast brings you dishes that won’t be found by asking for a ‘Number 32 please!’
When? Friday 21st June 2013
Through The Bamboo Forest
Cold dishes – ’Smacked’ garlic cucumber, Shredded beancurd salad, Lotus root salad etc
Dumplings – Boiled soup dumplings with white gourd, Fried potsticker dumplings
Vegetable dishes – ’Fish fragrant’* aubergine, Stir-fried lettuce, Garlic stems
Tofu & beancurd dishes – ’Bear’s paw’** tofu, Red-braised beancurd
Sides – Boiled rice, pickles, etc
*Does not contain fish- this is a classic Sichuanese flavour combination and it’s so named because of the seasonings used in traditional fish cookery: pickled chillies, ginger, garlic and spring onions, with a bit of sweet and sour
**No bears will be harmed for this recipe!
Edible Feasts are a unique immersive experience into the world of food, brought to you by Kerrie Ahern. Having lived in Jiangxi province & Beijing in China, Kerrie brings together the recipes she has learnt from Chinese friends & her time in Asia for this special evening. Influenced by her own mixed cultural heritage (British born, Irish, Chinese & Vietnamese!), ‘Through The Bamboo Forest’ aims to be an interactive evening of sharing & embracing the joys of communal dining.
