London Chaiparty and Burleighs Gin join hands to present to you An Evening of Gin & Indian food.
With micro distillaries popping up all over the country, we thought it was high time someone took the plunge and paired actual Indian food with craft Gin. Our 6 course gastronomic flight would cover food from different parts of India, cooked in different styles, and those that vary a lot in terms of taste and flavour. Each course would be accompanied by a Burleighs Gin cocktail, and a tasting sample of the gin used to create that particular cocktail.
Burleighs is a smooth, classic London Dry gin made in the heart of Leicestershire. Master Distiller Jamie Baxter took inspiraton from Charnwood Forest to create a recipe featuring dandelion, burdock, silver birch and elderberry along with more traditional gin botanicals. The three expressions of Burleighs Gin use the same eleven botanical ingredients but each has its own character, from bold and spicy to floral and aromatic which Brand Ambassador Henry Yates has incorporated into the 3 gorgeous cocktails he has created for the evening.
Welcome canape: Masala popcorn, to munch on while you settle down for an evening of Gin & food.
Mango and chilli paneer, grilled to perfection, and served on fresh salad
Lamb Nargisi kebab: The Indian version of Scotch eggs made instead with quails egg and spicy lamb, served with pickled onions and chutney. (Vegetarian option: Kebabs with mashed potatoes, grated carrots and spinach)
Tasting sample: Burleighs Signature gin
Cocktail ~ Gin-e-Aam, a clean, punchy, refreshing drink using Burleighs Signature gin, pressed mango, red pepper juice, lime, chilli, jaggery, hing and black pepper
Kerala pork roast with string hoppers: Pork slow cooked with potato chunks and generous doses of pepper and other heady spices to create a fragrant melt-in-your-mouth roast. Served with light rice flour based string hopper. (Vegetarian option: Cauliflower and potatoes cooked with pepper and spices and served with String hoppers)
Tawa fried fish with steamed rice, spiced lentils and okra crisps. (Vegetarian option: Tawa fried aubergines with steamed rice, spiced lentils and okra crisps)
Tasting sample: Burleighs Export Strength gin
Cocktail ~ Burleighs Bagicha, a light and perfumed drink with Burleighs Export Strength gin, ginger juice, coriander juice, jasmine tea, cardamom, lime, salt and curry leaf.
Qubani ka meeta: A luxurious dessert made with stewed dried apricots served on a luscious cardamom spiced white chocolate mousse
Chikki: A traditional Indian brittle made with ground peanuts and jaggery
