Due to popular demand, Chaiparty is back again with The Great South Indian Brunch featuring food from 4 Southern States of India.
A lazy Sunday afternoon, a beautiful garden, a bunch of friends and regional authentic food that you would not get to taste anywhere in London. If you are the curious, experimental foodie, then this brunch has your name written all over it.
DRINK: Andhra spiced buttermilk (V)
Mini idli’s~ steamed rice cakes served with coconut chutney and sambar (lentils) (V)
Kerala Netholi fry- Crispy fried anchovies with curry leaves and a dash of lime. You wont be able to stop with one.
Ladies finger fry- Yes, good ol’ Okra battered and deep fried, need we say more? (V)
Thoran- a stir fry of sorts, mildly spiced with grated coconut, and features in the sadya- a banquet served at festivals and weddings. (V)
Mutton fry- Melt in the mouth lamb-on-the-bone, smothered in a rich and aromatic masala.
Chettinad potato- The use of unique spices like fennel and asafoetida makes this potato fry stand out from the usual. (V)
Chitranna- A tiffin is never complete without coloured rice, and this tangy tamarind rice hits the right spot, cleansing your palette as well. (V)
Garelu from East Godavari- A popular breakfast item, shaped like a donut, jazzed up with onions and chillies and deep fried. (V)
Country chicken curry- Spicy chicken curry native to the Southern state of Andhra Pradesh
Stuffed bhaingan- Mini aubergines stuffed with masala and slow cooked to perfection (V)
Pazham fry with cardamom ice cream- a tad fancy this is, with caramelised bananas and cardamom ice-cream. Very Syrian Christian and a must at Easter. (V)
Bengaluru Pineapple Kesari- Tropical twist to the traditional sweet made with semolina, and a generous addition of ghee. (V)
All washed down to hearts content with Madrasi Filter Kaapi
