Having fallen in love with New Orleans, Slap Ya Papa was born when founder and head-chef Lucie Massey came home with a bag full of recipes and dusty old blues records. Setting out to create experiences inspired by the mesmerising Nola culture she so enjoyed there, the seed of a bi-monthly supper club has grown into a regular event series serving up the best Soul Food and Live Music this side of Mississippi.
Picking up fellow soul adventurer and events producer Tristan Pringle along the way, the dynamic duo are brining their slice of Nola to Hackney Empire's Stage 3 space for the first of a monthly residency.
