Our coffee expert will guide you on your journey as you learn about what coffee is, where it's from, brewing methods & how to develop a honed coffee palate.
On the masterclass, you'll learn about the art of coffee tasting and how taste is influenced by everything from terroir and processing methods to transport, storage, roasting and brewing methods. You'll find out how the ripe coffee fruit begins its journey in the tropics and eventually ends up in your cup, ready to drink.
We'll also give you the low-down on coffee cupping and explain our coffee flavour wheel. Then we'll move on to showcase key brewing methods – the Aeropress, the French Press, the Chemex and Pour-Over. What's more, you'll get hands-on with each method, brewing, tasting and discussing in a social & relaxed environment before declaring your favourite.

This class will be run by Kerstin Mercer. Kerstin joined the coffee trade in 2007 working for Schluter SA - a green coffee trader outside Geneva. She became CQI certified as a Q Cupper in 2011 and as an R Grader in 2013. Kerstin returned to London in early 2013 to pursue her passion for telling stories and coffee quality education. As a cupper, Kerstin has been nicknamed 'The Machine', for her ability to slurp more spoonfuls per minute than most!
