I am a food writer, cook and tutor. I write for magazines such as BBC Good Food, Delicious and Cook Vegetarian as well as Great British Chefs. I write a blog at www.deenakakaya.com where I share recipes that are completely novel and my own creation. All my recipes are vegetarian.

I share recipes that combine influences from throughout the world in an approach to cooking that is modern, invigorating and exciting. When the world is your palate, vegetarian food can never be limiting or boring and this is what I want to share in my cookery classes.

Congratulations to Deena and her team on running a superb cookery class, My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My only suggestion for this class is to turn it into a full day class as it was so enjoyable.

Please add to your mailing list we look forward to attending again.

Thanks you again

A superb class that I felt was not only well planned it was delivered in a way in which both beginners and Intermediate home cooks can learn a lot.
I took this class as my wife is vegetarian where I am not and wanted to learn a couple of dishes from this class.
I was so impressed with Deena's style of teaching and learnt how to make a starter, main and dessert.
The class is generally easy follow and the notes handed out will allow me to replicate the dishes for my wife over the coming weeks.

I would highly recommended this class to anyone who already enjoys cooking or even if you are a beginner, Deena connects well with all the attendees and at the end of the lesson I made some nice friends. Thank you again and look forward to the next class in the new year.

Lots of fun!!!

Hi

I throughly enjoyed this class - I was really impressed with how engaging it was. I have attended several cookery classes but this one stood out for me as there was such great meaning behind the recipes. I particularly liked Deena's style and pace.

Thank you!!!

A forgettable experience

sheena attended Modern Vegetarian Cookery class in August 2014, reviewed on 31 August 2014

I attended this course today and was very disappointed.
It was bought for me as a surprise and I was very excited.
But upon arriving at the venue, I was informed the course was actually a hour later then was stated on the booking. The details also said the classes were of 8 maximum. There were 14 in our class! There were only 8 work stations in the kitchen and it was very cramped. We had to work in pairs which wasn't helping in an already cramped environment.
Deena had sorted the ingredients for the starters but the rest of the time we had to find our own ingredients which with so many of us, took time.
I found that I was continual waiting to be able to do anything.
The menu was not very adventurous (as stated on the details). I understand they have to be simple but this was very basic and not fusion.
Whilst Deena did explain the spices and ingredients. I don't feel she spent enough time which each cook as there were so many.
Unfortunately, this course was not value for money.

Simple ingredients with great taste

Deena was a true professional. Explaining and helpful those who had not previously used the ingredients. I liked her passion for helping others and encouraging experimentation in cooking. While the ingredients in the session were simple they were mixed in a way that made the kitchen smell incredible.
Overall a super class. Looking forward to when she runs a class on recipes with Tofu.

Thank you so much Graham for the very positive feedback and I am delighted that you enjoyed your time cooking with me and I really hope that you will keep in touch and let me know if you try any other recipes from me. I look forward to seeing you on the tofu class! best wishes

Leena attended Modern Vegetarian Cookery class in June 2014, reviewed on 21 June 2014

I did the class with a friend - we learnt so much from Deena and were able to take the inspiration back to our kitchen and our dishes with great confidence!
Deena's very personable. I've been to other classes and the cooks just talk at you, Deena takes a very different approach!

It's clear Deena has a wealth of knowledge that's she's constantly growing. I didn't know veg cooking could be this limitless, fun and delicious.

You need to get yourself to a class!! I'm taking my Mum to the next..... Thanks Deena!

Deena Kakaya Vegetarian cooking responded on 14 October 2014:

what fantastically generous words Leena, see you and your mum soon- Thank you!

What a great class! I attended Deena's class in May and it was fabulous. It opened my eyes to new ways of mixing spices and world dishes to make sense arousing dishes.
If you are a vegetarian like me and bored of making the same things over and over again this class is the one for you. Broadening your thinking and tantalising your taste buds. I hope you find this class as exciting as I did. Enjoy it.

Deena Kakaya Vegetarian cooking responded on 14 October 2014:

Thanks so much Tamsin for taking the time to write such a lovely and positive comment, I am so glad that I could share some vegetarian inspiration with you! best wishes, Deena
