A wonderful event where Chef Priya Deshingkar prepares sumptuously delicious food of Old Delhi that evolved over centuries under the patronage of the Mughals. That changed forever with Partition and the spread of Punjabi food. Chef Priya brings you a memorable feast based on forgotten cooking techniques from that era such as blending spices and perfumes, tenderising meat, layering marinades and enriching with nuts.
With a lifelong passion for food, Priya Deshingkar loves to delve into the rich, culinary treasure trove of Indian cuisine, especially from the North, which is a melting pot of different eating cultures. Priya carries in-depth knowledge of her gastronomic heritage acquired during her upbringing in Delhi. Encouraged by her foodie parents’ to cook from a young age and "nosing around other people's kitchens" as she puts it, Priya developed a keen interest in different cooking techniques and ingredients. She arrived in the UK during the 1980s and set about recreating the taste of home. Priya is equally at home in the UK and India and describes herself as an “Anglophile Indian”. She has been making a name for herself by bringing authentic and divinely delicious, home-cooked Indian food to the public with her increasingly popular supperclubs in Hove, where she’s based, under the company banner of Deccan Tiffin – in memory of her parents who were born in the Deccan Plateau.
