Extract from Catalan Cooking website:
Catalans love wild mushrooms. When they get off the beach at the end of August they go rushing in their cars to hills and mountains to seek them out. Rural Catalans *love* the weekend invasion of Barcelonins running through their hills, urinating in the forests, picking their mushrooms. You get used to hearing all kinds of complaints of there being more mushroom pickers than mushrooms on hills easily accessible from Barcelona.
When they get them home they use them in all kinds of ways with food and if you are anywhere near Catalonia in Autumn you should find them all over the menus of restaurants.
For our class we will make:
Piquillo peppers stuffed with mushrooms
Lentils with wild mushrooms and bacon
Wild mushrooms roasted with chicken liver
Squid and black pudding with chesnut puree and wild mushrooms
N.B We can also do a vegetarian version of each dish if the anyone in the class requires one
The class will also include and aperativos of olives and cured meat as well as a glass of wine.
