hosted by Peranakan Palace
A Singaporean Peranakan Stranded in London.
Here at Peranakan Palace, the aim is to share my passion for the unique and delectable world of Peranakan cuisine which graced our dining table when I was growing up in Singapore.
Peranakan food is typically rich, aromatic and spicy and blend Chinese ingredients and cooking techniques with spices used by the Malays features ingredients such as coconut milk, galangal, laksa leaves, lemongrass, tamarind, chillies, candlenuts, pandan leaves etc.
Classic Nyonya dishes such as Beef Rendang, Ayam or Babi Pongteh, Itek Sio, Chap Chye, Popiah and many more will be featured regularly in a communal table setting, just like in a typical Peranakan household.
Note: Due to the small scale nature of the supperclub and Nyonya cuisine involves the use of shrimp paste, nuts & gluten, unfortunately it will not always be possible to cater to special dietary requirements.
On the menu:
Ngor Hiang (Crispy Five spiced meat rolls)
Chwee Kueh (Steamed rice cake with spicy radish toppings)
Mee Rebus (Noodles in sweet potato gravy)
Babi Pongteh (Braised Pork, bamboo shoots, mushroom and potatoes in fermented bean sauce))
Signature Ox Cheek Rendang
Ipoh Pork Skin and Long Bean Curry
Nasi Ulam (Nyonya Aromatic herbed Rice Salad)
.....plus a few Nyonya kuehs/puddings.
Minimum donation of £45 / person to cover food cost and effort. It’s 12 seats so get in there quick if there are any remaining spaces! All events are BYO wine / beer and start at 7pm.
Expect loads of food and do come hungry...you have been warned.
Hope to see you there!
