hosted by Burmese Food and Beyond
Burmese Food and Beyond is proud to announce a collaboration with Rebecca Brett of delicious. in aid of Action Against Hunger's work in Burma, aka Myanmar to bring a taste of authentic Burmese cuisine to London.
Rebecca was part of a wonderful team of foodies which recently took part in a charity cycle in Burma and managed to raise over £72,000 for Action Against Hunger which is a brilliant effort.
At this charity dinner at the renowned Drapers Arms in Islington (Nick Gibson was another member of the team), we hope to reunite those cyclists and also to raise even more funds for AAH.
Burmese food is a little like Thai, a little like Indian and a little like Chinese (hardly surprising since those are Burma's neighbours), but it takes these influences and then combines them with techniques, ingredients and flavours of its own to make something subtle, delicious and unique.
The menu will include tohu kyaw (Shan tofu fritters), wet-thar myit-tchin (pork and sour bamboo shoot stew), and the national dish Mohinga (fish noodle broth).
Food will be served family-style, guests will be sat around communal tables, and we will show you how to eat with your hands in the traditional manner and encourage you to follow suit, if you feel brave enough!
All food may contain fish sauce and traces of peanuts. Unfortunately we cannot cater for vegetarians or vegans.
Look forward to feeding you!
