This is the perfect class for anyone who wants to start exploring the world of cake decorating. A love for chocolate is a must if you are attending this class!
Each student will take home a 6” chocolate cake, filled & frosted with ganache and decorated with gilded chocolate truffles. They will also make 6 chocolate indulgence cupcakes, dipped in liquid ganache and finished with decorations made from modelling chocolate. And if all this is not enough, they will also take home a gift bag of their own hand-made chocolate truffles!
In this class, students will learn how to bake the perfect moist and indulgent chocolate sponge, which we will use for the cake and cupcakes. The tutor will discuss tips and tricks to baking with chocolate, including different flavour combinations. Students will make their own batch of chocolate ganache, and learn a variety of different ways to use it. They will make chocolate truffles before splitting, filling and frosting their chocolate cakes and dipping the cupcakes in shiny liquid ganache. We will demonstrate how to make your own modelling chocolate (chocolate plastique) – no need to buy the expensive stuff from specialist suppliers. Each student will make their own set of chocolate decorations using push-in moulds, before gilding their decorations and finishing their cakes.
This is a 5 hour long class. Coffee, tea and a home baked treat will be served upon arrival. You will take home all the cakes that you bake.
