Fingertips is a brand new supper club/ dinner party where I'll dishing out a West African inspired set menu which will be eaten without cutlery, just as I grew up eating as a kid, hence the event being called Fingertips.

Being raised in a council flat in East London, the cultures of my Nigerian father and my Zambian mother could not be left out of the picture, especially when it came down to food and how we ate our meals. There was always one large plate of "Fufu" - I'll call it that for arguments sake, as there're many different types - a bowl of spicy stew to dip your 'Fufu' into, and a bowl of water to wash our hands. Our fingertips were our cutlery, and we all ate from the same crockery. I find this method of eating to be quite intimate, which has led me to wonder, what would happen if I shared this with those who I'd consider as strangers?

If it means that food can bring individuals from various walks of life into one room, and hopefully start conversations that will allow us to learn about each other, ask questions that make you clench you bumcheeks, have healthy debates, connect in romance, seal those deals perhaps, pray for each other maybe, or just to eat something totally new to you for the first time, I will happily be responsible for doing that.

I've never been to any cooking school, I guess watching my mother in the kitchen making Egusi Soup and watching Ainsley Harriott swivel his hips on Ready Steady Cook -remember that TV show? - was my cooking school! After being the tag along friend invited to barbecues that ends up running the grill, throwing down at get togethers with friends and spending an intense few months sweating away in Shoreditch's, Ace Hotel Kitchen, I quickly realised that I wanted to present food the to people with patience and intimacy.

You come,

I'll cook,

You eat,

Lets enjoy,
