Kitchen Theory

Kitchen Theory is an experimental gastronomy design studio founded by experimental chef Jozef Youssef. Working with Oxford University’s experimental psychologist Professor Charles Spence, Chef Jozef is on an odyssey to understand the field of gastrophysics; the emerging science of understanding how our senses can alter our perception of flavour as well as ongoing research and developments in gastronomy.

Our aim is simple: to grow this field of research and spread the word through our publications and peer reviewed papers or blog, designing memorable and intelligent immersive multisensory dining experiences whether it be at our gastrophysics chefs table or for our corporate clients,  as well as hosting talks and molecular cooking workshops.

We went for dinner to Mexico by Kitchen Theory last night. Wow, what a fabulous line up of food! It was beautiful to behold, even better to taste and enlightening as well, all without being pretentious. A really great evening. It deserves all the great reviews!

Once again, a great evening. The food was fantastic and the ambiance great.
Each dish was well thought out and explained by the host to put the meal into context. The evening offered a whole dining experience which went beyond the food itself incorporating all 5 senses. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
I'd recommend kitchen theory to anyone and will definitely be returning.

The food was absolutely amazing and the little multisensory experience that I managed to enjoy was brilliant, the waitress was lovely, and the work Kitchen Theory is doing is really interesting as well. Overall a great evening!

I would have given this event a 10 but since the multisensory experience was kind of spoilt by the large party on the night I went, which as the night went on, got louder and louder. I could barely hear the background sound which was supposed to acompany the food. I think eventually the staff gave up on the multisensory thing and changed the subtle background "sound" to music... which was a shame.

Perhaps a little more visual reminder that this is a multisensory dining experience, and not "just a nice meal" would have helped reduce noise level!

Love, love, love
