Based in leafy Richmond of West London, Umeka is a cooking studio specialising in Japanese cuisine. Focusing on seasonal and local fresh ingredients, Japanese cooking techniques are taught with fine details and attention.
We offer sushi classes, as well as other Japanese home favourites, tempura, gyoza, tonkatsu, kara-age, teriyaki & yakitori. Japanese presentation skills, which is an important part of Japanese cuisine, are also taught in class.
Classes are small with maximum 6 students.
Pop-Up cooking classes for schools, birthday, hen night, gallery opening, are also available.

About the instructor:
Kinu Yukawa was raised in the cosmopolitan city of Kobe, Japan. Kinu fostered the basics of cooking at a young age from her grandmother, Umeka, who owned a successful restaurant in central Kobe She later studied at Ecole Ritz Escoffier and the French Culinary Institute to sharpen her culinary skills. Kinu also gained training in Japanese cuisine from the ryotei masters of Kyoto and Tokyo.
Kinu was a regular recipe columnist of Foodie Magazine in Hong Kong. Now based in London, she contributes recipes and articles to cookbook projects.
Kinu also teaches Japanese cooking at Japan Centre's JC Sushi Academy.
