Amazing food as always

Rating: 10

Food is delicious as always. Everything was perfect. From the starters comprising of giant keropoks, spiral curry puffs and chicken satay, to the main star of the evening: THE Malaysian Chilli Crab. The crab and the sauce was simply divine. After that, I barely had room for the glass noodles salad, giant prawns and dessert. Food was a perfect 10. The hosts comprising of Yolanda, Sharif and Aunty Mary were a perfect 10 as well! All of us had a good laugh listening to Aunty Mary's stories and she is clearly passionate about her cooking and food. It was great to meet other guests and we had a lovely evening. Looking forward to the next Wild Serai Supperclub.

First supperclub I've been to and had a fantastic time. The food and hosts were incredible, they made you feel really welcomed and at home. The couple were great with everyone and Auntie Mary is a fantastic addition to the team with her wealth of knowledge, expertise on food and humour. I can see this club going from strength to strength and I look forward to dining with these guys again.

Lovely Food

The food was lovely and the satay in particular took me back to the hawker markets in Penang. Yolanda and her aunt Maria were very nice and took the time to speak to guests.
The chilli crab/lobster was delicious as were the buns, it would have been even better to have had proper utensils ie the skinny picks/forks to really get the most meat out of all the bits.
The only downside was the wait between courses, it would have been better if all the mains had been served at the same time...after the crab there was a bit of a wait for what was essentially some plain rice and 1 very nice prawn and then after that a 40 minute wait for dessert which was tasty but the wait made it a bit of an anticlimax so much so we forgot to take a picture of it for the blog!. Yolanda did say that this was a larger group than usual. The food was very nice and we would go to another of wild serai's supper clubs.

Wild Serai responded on 23 March 2017:

Thanks for taking the time to review and we are looking into the logistics of managing a bigger supperclub at external venues. We do understand the waiting time can be a let down and will look to improve on this.

Thank you for the feedback. :)

Right from the emails leading up to the date and of course on the day itself everything was well executed. The setting, the warm welcome was nothing short of the Malaysian hospitality. The food was truly scumptious and plentiful. I think everything was timed to perfection, which couldn't have been easy seeing it was all seafood. Topping off a lovely meal with ais kacang was just the perfect end. Both Yolanda and Sharif were the perfect hosts. The only thing if at all I could say was, it would be nice to have water on the table and the wet wipes that was handed over later part of the meal could have been handed over earlier, like say before or during the crab eating time. Other than that I can't really complain as the food was fresh and delicious.

This was my first time at Wild Serai and the evening lived up to all the great reviews I'd read about them. From the delicious watermelon cosmopolitan, to tasty satay chicken skewers, delightful chilli crab and sambal prawns, to the interesting Kang Kong Belachan and Ais Kacang, every dish delivered high quality ingredients and big flavours - my introduction to Malaysian cuisine. We had a fabulous evening in the company of the other friendly guests and the hosts were so lovely and attentive. Loved the experience and will definitely go back too. Highly recommended.

This was the second time we have been to a supper club organised by Wild Serai and it was as amazing as the first time. The majority of people there were from Malaysia which says something. A well as the food our table was full of interesting and chatty people which made the evening even more enjoyable.
The Chicken Satay was delicious as was the Malaysian Chilli Crab and the little bread loaves that were served alongside it and soaked up all the juices. The King Prawn Sambal Petai had a wonderful depth of flavour. On such a sweltering day the Ais Kacang was an inspired choice and cooled us all down as well as being an unusual mixture of textures and flavours. We will be back.
