With the festivities of Dussehra, one of the most important Indian festivals, in full swing, the timing couldn't be more perfect to present The Big Bong Lunch, a seven course meal (yes you read it right) featuring fare from the heart of West Bengal.
Needless to say, come hungry!
Menu:
First course
Shukto- a unique Bengali vegetable curry, traditional meal starter (v)
Accompanied with steamed rice
Second course
Moong daal (v)
5 kinds of fries bhaja- i. potato, ii. aubergine iii. peanuts, iv. coconut slices v. cauliflowers (v)
Third course
Bengali sweet pulao
March er paturi- banana wrapped steamed fish
Dhoka ar danla- lentil cubes in a tomato gravy (v)
Fourth course
Kosha mangsho- lamb curry
Aloo phol kopi ir danla- cauliflower and potato curry (v)
Fifth course
Amshotto- Dried mango, dates and raisins chutney
Papad
Sixth course
Bhapa doi- sweetened steamed yoghurt.
Sandesh- a rich dessert made with sugar and cottage cheese
Seventh course
Darjeeling tea
