A perfect opportunity for masochists to trounce their ‘dryathalon’ January; join us at 6:30pm, Wednesday 5th February at refurbished Bishopsgate haunt, The Hide at The Bull. (£35p.p. including English Sparkling wine reception, bespoke voucher, wines and canapés and tasting booklets).
Why English wine? Because it’s good. Indeed, it’s good enough to compete with, and beat, wines from around the world at international competitions every year.
Not only are we now "out-Champagning" the French, but it was the English who invented the high-pressured bottles needed to create the fizz and prevent bottles from exploding. It was also the English who first recorded the process of making sparkling wine in 1662, long before Dom Perignion's alleged declaration "come quickly - I am tasting the stars."
