The Laksa Kitchen


This year we travelled from Kuala Lumpur to Borneo via Penang on the search for the perfect Laksa.

We have returned from Malyasia and for two weeks we are opening The Laksa Kitchen pop up in Kentish Town.

Our concise Malaysian menu is made up of five Small Plates, four varieties of Laksa (including the Sarawak Laksa), Hainan Chicken Rice and three desserts. We will also be serving Malay drinks and Malay-inspired cocktails.

Great food and excellent laksa

Highly recommended tasty curry mee and rendition of Sarawak laksa, which I have yet to see elsewhere in London. Busy evening with a lively atmosphere and decent service and good value considering the price.

Food was OK but not surprising, we expected more flavour. The highlight of the evening was the dessert and the most horrible thing (in the world), the toilets. Just unacceptable, it ruined our experience and left us with an upset stomach and worry about everything else in those premises. I guess that has to be only with the venue but sorry, was definitely part of our experience.

We enjoyed all the four small plates, particularly the shrimp fritters and the Sarawak Laksa was delicious and unusual. Our Singapore born friend spoke highly of the food .

The staff were efficient and friendly and the hostess from Malaysia was charming. I t was a lively atmosphere and I like the idea of pop ups.

I came for the food - not for the facilities downstairs- but they were rather dank though clean.

My boyfriend and I both had really good laksas - I went with the seafood curry laksa and his was sarawak laksa. The chili that was served with the sarawak laksa was really good! We had prawn fritters and pork belly for starters, and both desserts. They're all lovely.
