hosted by Burmese Food and Beyond
Here's your chance to try Burmese food, one of South East Asia's least-known cuisines, at my home on the outskirts of South East London.
Burmese food is a little like Thai, a little like Indian and a little like Chinese (hardly surprising since those are Burma aka Myanmar's neighbours), but it takes these influences and then combines them with techniques, ingredients and flavours of its own to make something subtle, delicious and unique.
This time I'll be taking my diners on a tour of several Burmese noodle dishes of note, including, amongst others, our national dish of the fish noodle broth Mohinga; the renowned Ohn-No Khao Swe coconut noodles, a close cousin of Thailand's Khao Soi; and Nan-gyi Thohk aka Mandalay Mohntee, a zesty chicken noodle salad. We'll also start with my beloved Tohu Kyaw - Shan Tofu Fritters.
This is a lunchclub rather than a supperclub. Guests will be sat around communal tables, and we will show you how to eat in the traditional manner!
BYOB, although iced water will be provided.
Please let me know of any dietary restrictions on the booking form (eg peanuts, dairy, gluten). However, this event is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
Address will be provided at the time of booking, but we live on the outskirts of South East London (Zone 4).
Please note that as an Asian household, we ask that you do not wear outdoor shoes inside. Therefore please bring slippers to change into or wear socks that you're comfortable showing off :)
