Dos Santos Foods

With many years experience as a chef in prestigious hotel restaurants and  hands on proprietor of two successful food businesses which showcase Goan food, what better way to share our Goan culture than by hosting a Goan Soul food supper club.

Apart from the formal training and the experience gained in the food industry, Alex is fortunate to be influenced by a wealth of home cooked recipes passed down the generations from his grandmother mum and mother-in-law.

It is Goan food with centuries of different influences along my journey through East Africa, Goa and the Middle East that I want to share my passion with you together with live music which is an important part of our culture.

I hope the evening will be  memorable and you will come away with new friends and experience our special Goan family hospitality.

Goan Food for Sunday Lunch

Rating: 10

Beverley Foulkes-Jones attended Goan Soul Food Tapas Experience in April 2014, reviewed on 7 April 2014

Yesterday , we headed down to the HQ of Dos Santos Foods in West Croydon for Sunday lunch. We were received warmly and given a long glass of mango juice and coconut water. Everyone was friendly and very chatty, including a family of Goan Polish who attend the lunch most months.
The starter was a medley of the more easily recognised samosas and bhajia with the less known green masala friend mussels and steamed prawn rissois served with yogurt and mint and tamarind dressings.-all delicious. Mains consisted of a very tasty Pork Sorpotel curry ( usually cooked at Christmas); a curry with aubergine and okra; tasty masala fried squid, cabbage and carrot with mustard seeds and coconut and pilau rice with fried onion. We finished off with Coconut Nueros with stunning cardamom ice cream and masala tea or coffee.
A new type of cuisine for us and well worth trying. There was music too.
